Lumineers are a modern cosmetic dentistry option designed to enhance the appearance of your smile with minimal tooth preparation. These ultra-thin restorations are crafted to improve color, shape, and symmetry while preserving natural tooth structure and delivering comfortable, natural-looking results.
At Candlewood Dental Care, Lumineers treatment is provided by Lorraine Burio, DMD, who has completed advanced training in cosmetic dentistry and is experienced in delivering conservative, aesthetic dental procedures. With decades of experience serving the New Fairfield community, Dr. Burio focuses on precision, comfort, and long-lasting smile enhancements.
What Are Lumineers?
Lumineers are ultra-thin porcelain veneers designed to be placed over the front surfaces of teeth with little to no removal of natural enamel. Because of their slim design, Lumineers can often be applied without injections or temporary restorations. They are digitally designed and custom-crafted to blend seamlessly with your natural smile, offering a conservative approach to cosmetic enhancement.
Lumineers Procedure:
Lumineers® are known for their ultra-thin design and conservative approach to smile enhancement. While many patients can receive Lumineers with little to no enamel removal, some smiles may benefit from minimal preparation to achieve optimal fit, comfort, and aesthetics.
Lumineers can be prescribed to address a variety of cosmetic dental concerns, including stained or discolored teeth, chipped teeth, and visible spacing or gaps between teeth. They are also used to improve the appearance of misaligned or crooked teeth, as well as small or misshapen teeth, and can help refresh aging dental work or enhance an overall smile that the patient finds unattractive or unsatisfying.
First Visit: Consultation
Before getting Lumineers, your teeth and gums need to be healthy. If there is any decay or gum problem, that will be treated first.
During your first visit:
- X-rays and impressions are taken
- Your bite is checked
- Your teeth are examined
- You choose the shade and look you want
See Your Smile Before You Start
You can even see how your smile might look before the treatment. A photo is taken and used to create a preview. This helps you feel more sure about the final result.
Second Visit: Placement
At your second visit, the Lumineers are placed on your teeth.
- They are bonded in place
- Any extra material is cleaned
- The surface is polished so it feels smooth
Once done, your teeth look brighter and more even right away. The smooth surface also helps prevent stains from building up.

*Not all Lumineers cases require tooth preparation. Treatment approach varies based on individual dental needs.
Lumineers can improve your smile in a short time. With proper care, the results can last for many years.
